Diving into the past

This year's AGM was really well attended, including some new faces. After a full and chatty business meeting we had a fascinating talk from Gary Bankhead, underwater archaeologist, about his finds from more than ten years of digging into the riverbed below Durham bridges, particularly Elvet. It is no exaggeration to say that his discoveries have rewritten the history of the textile industry in Durham and if you haven't already checked out his website, I recommend you click on the following link (www.diveintodurham.uk).
